Babylon The Great Is Fallen
Excerpt from Chapter 6
One of the mysteries of Bible prophecy surrounds the identity of the end time nation called “Mystery Babylon” whose destruction is foretold in the Book of Revelation. As we have seen in chapter two, Daniel revealed the ruling kingdoms of the earth are all one empire - the kingdom of Satan, who is the prince of this present world. Each of these ruling empires is part of the same system, Mystery Babylon. As we have seen, Mystery Babylon is both a political power and a religious system. In this chapter, we shall review the prophecies surrounding the nation state revealed in Scripture as Mystery Babylon the Great. “And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.”
In ancient times, cities identified nation states, as well as their capital. Ancient Babylon, in the time of king Nebuchanezzar, was both a great city, and the capital of the nation state which ruled the earth of that time. The same is true of Rome, which was both a city and a nation state. In the modern era, Bible scholars debate the identity of the end time nation “MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT.”
MYSTERY BABYLON THE GREAT
In Revelation 17 we are given several clues to the identity of Babylon: “And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will shew unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters: With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication. And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth.”
These are the clues to the identity of the woman Mystery, Babylon the Great:
- She is referred to as a great whore, a prostitute.
- She is seated upon many waters.
- The rulers of the earth have engaged in illicit relations with her.
- She has polluted the inhabitants of the earth with her idolatry making them drunk.
- She is the mother of all falsehood and abominations upon the earth at that time.
- She is the great nation, which rules over all of the kings of the earth.
- She is called Mystery Babylon for her true identity is a secret.
IDENTIFYING THE WOMAN RIDING THE BEAST
First, this nation is identified as a whore. Matthew Henry’s commentary offers insight into the meaning of the name Mystery Babylon, the mother of harlots.
“This is a name of great infamy. A whore is one that is married, and has been false to her husband's bed, has forsaken the guide of her youth, and broken the covenant of GOD. She had been a prostitute to the kings of the earth, whom she had intoxicated with the wine of her fornication. The appearance she made: it was gay and gaudy, like such sort of creatures: She was arrayed in purple, and scarlet color, and decked with gold, and precious stones, and pearls. Here were all the allurements of worldly honour and riches, pomp and pride, suited to sensual and worldly minds.From the description of Babylon as a whore, we note that this nation was at one time married to the true GOD of Heaven but has turned a harlot and has gone whoring after other gods. Thus we know Mystery Babylon was at one time a GODly nation but has now turned from the true GOD to the worship of idols and falsehood. She is an apostate!
Her principal seat and residence - upon the beast that had seven heads and ten horns; that is to say, Rome, the city on seven hills, infamous for idolatry, tyranny, and blasphemy. Her name, which was written on her forehead. It was the custom of impudent harlots to hang out signs, with their names, that all might know what they were. Now in this observe, she is named from her place of residence - Babylon the Great; but, that we might not take it for the old Babylon literally so called, we are told there is a mystery in the name; it is some other great city resembling the old Babylon.”
Second, we are told this nation is seated upon many waters. This reference is both literal and symbolic. The modern nation Babylon physically possesses a land which is seated on many oceans, rivers and great lakes. This also speaks symbolically that she rules many peoples (waters refers to the nations) and has many diverse peoples as citizens or subjects.
Third, we are told this nation has engaged in illicit or immoral acts with the rulers of the other nations of the earth. The modern Babylon has political or economic ties to the rest of the planet through which she has spread her apostasy. Mystery Babylon is also the author of the last day’s ecumenical movement through which the one world religion of the beast will subdue the earth.
Fourth, we are told Babylon has polluted the earth with her idolatry and fornication which is the worship of false gods. Babylon has exported her carnal idolatry to all of the other nations corrupting them with the same idolatry with which she herself is polluted.
Fifth, modern Babylon is the mother of all falsehood and abominations on the earth in the last days, again referring to her export of her lewd and apostate culture and idolatry. She is the leader or mother of all the nations which will be deceived by the little prince.
Finally, her identity is clearly revealed. We are told she is the great nation state which rules the earth in the last days. Can there be any doubt of whom this prophecy speaks?
AMERICA - THE DAUGHTER OF BABYLON
There is only one nation which today fits this prophetic picture and has fulfilled it literally: The United States of America.
First, America was founded as a Christian nation under GOD, the only republic founded for the purposes of GOD aside from Israel herself. Israel was GOD’s nation under the Old Covenant. The LORD called America for the New Covenant. Modern America has turned into a harlot, having become an apostate from the truth of GOD. Today, America worships the gods of money, fame and the pleasures of immorality. Thus America fulfills the prophetic type of a whore perfectly.
Second, America is seated upon many waters both literally and symbolically. America physically sits on both the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, the Great Lakes and many great rivers, while her influence covers the globe. Symbolically, she sits or rules over many nations through her leadership of the world during the twentieth century. America also has a population from all over the earth. People everywhere dream of the day they too can come to the great land of America. She is the pride of the whole earth.
Third, America is responsible for the United Nations plan for a New World Order, having financed and promoted this plan to conquer the earth for the rich men. Her form of government, a union of independent states, is the model for the One World Government of the prince who is to come, a United States of the World under the UN. The great seal of the US declares this in Latin, “Announcing the birth of the New World Order.”
Forth, America has polluted the world with her idolatry. The world has gone into debt with American money from American banks, smokes American cigarettes, buys American weapons, has imported America’s abortion policies called family planning, and is following the American sponsored UN. The world watches American movies, buys American pornography, listens to American music, and idolizes the American culture of materialism and hedonism. America truly has polluted the earth with her filth.
Fifth, America is the mother of the falsehood of the earth at the time of the end. Her gospel of materialism and secular democracy, have deceived the earth into embracing the one-world system of the anti-Messiah. America is also the mother of the great last day’s apostasy of the true faith of Jesus Christ - the one world false religion of the beast which is the global ecumenical movement being organized under the World Council of Churches. America is also the mother of the final deception of the church, the pre-tribulation rapture fable! All of this falsehood came out of America!
Finally, America is the reigning super power over the earth in these last days. The 20th century has been referred to as the American century. It is America that has led the so called free world, since the post war era began in 1945. The Scripture is clear, the end time nation called Mystery Babylon is the United States of America! Weep America, for your hour of judgment has come, and no one can deliver you. “Come out from her My people” says the LORD.
THE VOICES OF MEN OF WISDOM
Many other men of wisdom have given witness that the United States of America is the end time nation Mystery Babylon: David Wilkerson, Dimitru Dudamen, among others have all confirmed this word. David Wilkerson writing in his book, Set The Trumpet to Thy Mouth, declares:
“I believe modern Babylon is present-day America, including its corrupt society and its whorish church system. No other nation fits the description of Revelation 18. America is going to be destroyed by fire! Sudden destruction is coming and few will escape. Unexpectedly, in one hour, a hydrogen holocaust will engulf America - and this nation will be no more. GOD is going to judge America for its violence, its crimes, its backslidings, its murdering of millions of babies, its flaunting of homosexuality, ...corruption, its drunkenness and drug abuse, its form of GODliness without power, its lukewarmness toward Christ...Judgment is at the door! Our days are numbered! The church is asleep, the congregations are at ease, and the shepherds slumber. How they will scoff and laugh at this message. Theologians will reject it...Pillow prophets of peace and prosperity will publicly denounce it...I am blowing the Lord’s trumpet with all my might...Perhaps only the overcomers will accept and hear the sound of this trumpet blast, but I proceed with these warnings because GOD called me to be a watchman.”Dumitru Duduman is another of the men of wisdom, whom the LORD sent to warn the United States. Dumitru is from Romania. He smuggled Bibles into Russia for 15 years, and then was arrested and severely tortured for 5 months. While they were attempting to kill him, the angel of the LORD appeared to him, telling him “plead the Blood of Jesus” and that he would be delivered and sent to America. He was sent to Fullerton in Southern California. There, the angel came to him again to show him what would come in America. Listen to Dumitru in his own words:
“If until now we have lived the way we wanted to, now the time has come when we must stop. It is enough that in the past we did what the world asked us to do. Some lived in wickedness. Others in abominations. We must put an end to all these things and return to GOD so that in the day of trouble, GOD would save us. I was awake as I am now...was sitting outside my apartment, and I saw a light coming towards me...the light surrounded me. It was the same angel. He said,The LORD has raised up many other voices in this last hour. American brothers and sisters, listen to the word of the LORD. This is the final warning. There is precious little time left.'Dumitru, I brought you to this country because this country will burn.'He showed me all of California.'Do you see what I have shown you? This is as Sodom and Gomorrah. Their sins have reached unto GOD, and GOD has decided to punish them by fire. In one day it will burn.'He then showed me Las Vegas, New York, and Florida. Again he said'This is as Sodom and Gomorrah. In one day it will burn.'I asked how will America burn?'When America thinks it has peace and quiet, and they rule the world, then from the oceans, and from Cuba, Nicaragua, and Central America they will bomb America.'But what will you do with your Church?'Many churches have left me.'What do you mean? Don’t you have people here?'Tell them this: People glorify people. The honor that Christ deserves men take upon themselves. In the church there is divorce, adultery, sodomy, abortion and all kinds of wickedness. Christ does not live in sin. Christ lives in holiness. Tell them to stop sinning and repent because GOD never stops forgiving. And all those who stop sinning and repent, GOD will save them in the day of trouble. As I saved Daniel from the lions, this is how I will save them. As I saved the three young ones from the furnace, this is how I will save them.'The word of GOD says 1,000 will fall at your side, and 10,000 at your right hand, but you will be protected by the power of GOD. I told the angel if you are truly the angel of GOD, everything must be written in the Bible.'Have you read Jeremiah 51?'I answered, it speaks of old Babylon.'Read again. Read again. It speaks of America not Babylon of old. Have you read Revelation 18? I will open your mind and you will understand.'American brothers, wake up, wake up. Wake from your sleep and repent and return to GOD. The day of wrath is near"
Mike McQuiddy has also spoken and written much on the soon judgment in America:
"In all of man’s history on earth there has never been any society, country or people that survived if they allowed either one of two sins to continue. First, the killing of babies, abortion; second, homosexuality! America has both."Mike testifies the LORD spoke to him saying,
"America cannot stop the bleeding! America will be cut down like a corn field - flattened. They won’t accept My grace, so now they will have to accept my law! The law demands blood restitution. America will bleed to death. The angel of death is coming. Pride comes before the fall. America says she sits like a queen on a throne - prideful. Now comes the fall. It’s midnight and mankind doesn’t know it! Judgment stalks the land! Warn the people!"GOD has given visions to others, calling them also to warn America. One such man was Henry Gruver:
"I began to see all of these submarines emerging from under the surface. I was surprised by how close they were to our borders. Then I saw missiles come out of them. They hit eastern coastal cities of the United States . I looked across the country... over in the northwest side and I saw the submarines. I saw missiles coming out and hitting the western coastal cities. I cried out, 'Oh GOD! Oh GOD! When will this be, and what shall be the sign of its coming?' I heard an audible voice speak to me and say, ‘when Russia opens her doors and lets the masses go. The free world will occupy themselves with transporting, housing and feeding and caring for the masses, and will let down their weapons and cry peace and safety. Then sudden destruction will come. Then is when it will come.’"
